Public Art
In partnership with PATH and A Community of Friends, the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles awarded Piece by Piece a $75,000.00 public art commission through a competitive selection process to create mosaic work for the new Villas at Gower permanent housing development in Hollywood. There will be approximately 70 units of affordable supportive housing. Services include job training, medical services, on-site counseling and more. The project is geared towards the homeless and those with special needs and is being called a "campus of hope." The project is considered "a pilot project" and, possibly, a model for housing developments for homeless people with special needs. As part of the project, residents and the community will be invited to participate in the creation of the mosaic art with Piece by Piece.
