Participant Orientation at Piece by Piece: A First Step into Mosaic Art

At Piece by Piece, we believe in the power of art to transform lives. Our free mosaic art workshops provide not just creative expression but also community, confidence, and opportunity. If you’re a resident of Los Angeles who has experienced homelessness, economic hardship, trauma, or loss—or if you are a veteran or a family member of a veteran—you are welcome to join us.

What to Expect: Orientation for New Participants

Before stepping into the world of mosaic-making, new participants attend an Orientation Session, a warm and welcoming introduction to Piece by Piece. AmeriCorps VISTA member John will guide you through the registration and orientation process, ensuring that every individual feels prepared, supported, and excited about their creative journey.

The first step? Fill out an Interest Form! Once submitted, you’ll be invited to an orientation session, which is held online monthly for accessibility and convenience.


What You'll Learn During Orientation

During this essential session, participants will:

✅ Learn about Piece by Piece’s mission to empower individuals through art.

✅ Explore opportunities for free workshops, mentorship, and ways to earn supplemental income through mosaic-making.

✅ Be introduced to the studio—including safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a comfortable and inspiring learning environment.

This moment of introduction is more than just informational—it’s a welcoming experience, reassuring participants that they are stepping into a supportive, inclusive, and creative space.

Stepping into the Studio

Following orientation, participants transition into the hands-on experience of their first mosaic workshop, held every Wednesday at 10 AM. Participants will be welcomed by Piece by Piece's wonderful instructors and their fellow artist participants.  No prior artistic experience is needed—just a willingness to explore creativity and be part of a community where individuals from diverse backgrounds support and inspire one another.
