Piece by Piece Artists Celebrate Color During the Month of May

During the month of May, our focus was on Color Theory. Artist Instructor Ellen Dinerman, supported by artist instructor Bea Jones, led the group in studying the color wheel, then making their own version using acrylic paints. Color is an essential element to design and is a part of our certificate training program. Unlike painting, mosaic is comprised of individual pieces and so creating gradations or making a color of multiple pieces is an important lesson. By doing exercises such as making a color wheel and a gradation chart, our artists can better understand the most effective ways to use color and black and white in their work.
