A vibrant interplay of light, color, and history defines this captivating mosaic piece. At its heart pulses a radiant starburst 21" mandala, constructed from a dynamic arrangement of fiery red, sunny yellow, and orange glass shards, punctuated by deep blues and greens. This central motif is flanked by two sleek vertical mirror strips that catch and reflect the surroundings, adding depth and movement. The entire composition is bordered by a charming mosaic of broken ceramic, adding a touch of nostalgic elegance.
This piece was handcrafted by Los Angeles-based artist Ricardo, who draws on his background in plastic arts and his Mexican heritage. For Ricardo, creating this mandala was the fulfillment of a long-held artistic goal, as he expresses: "It is a piece that I had always wanted to make because it is a very beautiful and very historical piece."
Pieces are intended for indoor use. Please clean gently with a microfiber cloth.
Since joining Piece by Piece in 2012, Ricardo has brought precision and creativity to his mosaic art, drawing on his background in mechanical work. He enjoys exploring texture and technique, and values the supportive artist community that inspires his growth and expression.

Piece by Piece provides no-cost mosaic art workshops to low-income residents of South Los Angeles, Skid Row, and surrounding areas. These classes provide folks who need it with the healing power of art by teaching them how to make mosaics, and in turn, the trade enables them to earn income through their unique creations.
Mosaic is a strong medium and we use a variety of new and recycled pieces to create our works of art. Our artists are trained in using the most professional techniques to ensure quality work. However, in rare occasions, there may be need for a repair. Piece by Piece offers repairs due to material defects on purchased items at no cost for two years from date of sale. For items that have been broken, left outside, or in need of other repairs, we will assess the extent of damage and, if repairs are possible, provide a quote to restore your item. We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unused, with tags, and in its original packaging.
