Welcoming Our Newest Board Members to Piece by Piece: Virginia Tanawong and Donna Mastropasqua

Today, we are thrilled to introduce our newest board members, Virginia Tanawong and Donna Mastropasqua, who have joined us to steer our organization towards greater heights.

Virginia comes to us following a remarkable 35-year career in the entertainment and media industry. She has held pivotal roles, including serving as the Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Community Relations at Universal Studios Hollywood for 15 years. Virginia also oversaw the philanthropic division, Discover a Star Foundation, and championed initiatives that raised over $10M to aid local nonprofit organizations.

Her career has been marked by advocacy for mentoring, inclusive leadership, and volunteerism, values that resonate deeply with our mission at Piece by Piece. Virginia shares, "I am thrilled to be joining the Board of this amazing organization that provides a safe environment for our most vulnerable neighbors to learn new skills, create beautiful art, earn an income, build community and find hope. I look forward to building greater awareness of the transformative work of Piece by Piece, thereby engaging more corporate and community support and expanding the program offerings to additional participants."

Sophie Alpert, our board chair, warmly welcomes Virginia, stating, “We're thrilled to welcome Virginia to the Piece by Piece board and look forward to having her share her non-profit board and community relations expertise with us.”

New Board members for Piece by Piece - Donna and Virginia

Donna  brings to our board an astounding 37 years of experience in media, marketing, and loyalty. She has been the force behind several successful initiatives, including launching 1love.org for Bob Marley’s family and spearheading strategic partnerships at the Chopra Foundation with a vision to impact 1 billion people.

Donna is a powerhouse of creativity and service, continually seeking new challenges and avenues to foster positive change in the world. She shares, “I joined the Piece by Piece board because I have been so inspired by Sophie’s passion and commitment. When I bought a piece of art for Deepak Chopra designed by Piece by Piece participant, Jose M. and had the pleasure of introducing Jose to Deepak as he beamed with pride from the joy derived from his art, I thought I need to do more. My hope is that I can help share the stories of the Piece of Piece community in creative ways that will drive more meaningful connections for Piece by Piece as an organization and for the artists individually and collectively and can result in more revenue opportunities going forward.”

Our board chair, Sophie Alpert, echoes the excitement, noting, “We are excited to welcome Donna and look forward to the many creative ways she will continue to highlight Piece by Piece's social impact with her marketing and business development experience.”

As they embark on this journey with us, Virginia and Donna bring not just their professional expertise but also a rich tapestry of personal experiences and a deep-seated desire to serve the community.

We are incredibly grateful to have them volunteer their time and expertise to guide our strategic vision, ensuring that Piece by Piece not only has the resources to flourish but also continues to be a place of healing, hope, support, and positive change in the community.

Join us in extending a warm welcome to Virginia and Donna, as we look forward to a fruitful collaboration filled with growth, innovation, and heartfelt service. Together, we are poised to craft a future where our community thrives, one piece at a time.
